Curriculum Guides for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Cluster of Electives in the Strengthened SHS Program

The Department of Education’s Strengthened Senior High School Program emphasizes the need for globally competitive and future-ready graduates. Under the Academic Track, the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) cluster offers an intensive and specialized curriculum that develops learners’ analytical, scientific, and technological skills.

This cluster includes a broad selection of subjects such as Advanced Mathematics 1 and 2, Pre-Calculus 1 and 2, Trigonometry 1 and 2, and Finite Mathematics, which provide a strong mathematical foundation necessary for various scientific and engineering fields. Students also explore the biological sciences through Biology 1 to 4 and deepen their understanding of the physical sciences through Chemistry 1 to 4 and Physics 1 to 4. These subjects ensure a well-rounded knowledge of natural phenomena, life processes, and physical laws.

The cluster also integrates Earth sciences through Earth and Space Science 1 to 4, as well as broader scientific principles through General Science (Earth and Space Science and Life Science) and General Science (Physical Science). These aim to enhance learners' awareness of environmental and planetary systems.

In the field of technology and data, learners are introduced to Database Management, Empowerment Technologies, and Fundamentals of Data Analytics, ensuring digital literacy and competence in handling data—skills highly relevant in today's industries.

Through this rigorous and forward-thinking set of subjects, the STEM cluster equips Senior High School learners with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to pursue advanced studies and careers in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and related fields, contributing to national development and innovation.
