The Department of Education has introduced its Revised Guidelines on Classroom Assessment, Grading System, and Awards and Recognition, bringing transformative changes to the K to 12 Basic Education Program. This policy marks a significant shift toward holistic development, shifting the focus from intense competition to continuous learner growth.
For evaluation, structured summative assessments are divided into Written/Oral Works (WWs), Product/Performance Tasks (PTs), and Summative Tests/Term Examinations (STs & TE), with performance tasks holding the highest weight across most subjects.
Key Stages 2 to 4 retains numerical grades but pairs them with qualitative descriptors and concrete instructional responses. For SY 2026-2027, an adjusted transmutation table acts as a bridge toward an upcoming zero-based grading system. Furthermore, awardees will now be listed alphabetically to promote fairness.
