DepEd allows blended and pure distance learning for private schools

The Department of Education (DepEd), through DepEd Order No. 044 issued October 17, 2022, has allowed all private schools offering basic education to implement pure distance learning and blended learning modalities past the November 2 target for full face-to-face clasess.

Said order is an amendment to an earlier DepEd Order 034 issued prior to the resumption of classes for School Year 2022-2023 in August.

For public schools, face-to-face classes becomes mandatory by November 2 except those allowed by DepEd Regional offices to conduct blended or pure distance learning and those affected by disasters and calamities.

In a statement following the issuance of said DepEd Order, DepEd cite "current situation of the private sector due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic" as primary reason in allowing private schools to continue the implementation of distance learning.
